Lacuna (Second Attempt), Dread

Lacuna Part 1: The Creation of the Mystery and the Girl from Blue City (second attempt)

Lacuna, as a game, is difficult to define: part sci-fi, part horror, part conspiracy. You play agents who descend into a collective subconscious, Blue City, to hunt criminals. However, Blue City, and the company you work for, have dark secrets.

Lacuna takes place in a dream world built in the collective minds of all humanity. Think Matrix meets Inception.

This is the second "edition" of the game, and includes rules for "Static", along with updated and clarified rules.

Dread (not to be confused with "Dread: The First Book of Pandemonium" [also in this torrent]) is a role playing game, with a twist. It's classic horror survival, but uses no dice. Instead, players use a Jenga tower to represent the game. As the game progresses, players pull blocks from the tower, making it more and more unstable. If a player tips the tower, they die in a horrible and cinematic manner.

The game comes with complete rules, three pre-constructed adventures (with character sheets), and all the information needed to build countless horror campaigns, from aliens to zombies, including madness and terror.

Dread: The First Book of Pandemonium

Dread is described as a modern horror-action game. Written by Rafael Chandler it is published by Neoplastic Press and is only available as a print on demand book from lulu, either as a soft or hardcover, or as a pdf.

PC's in this game have been contacted by a supernatural entity and enlisted in a battle against Demons. Characters have been trained in both magic and combat and are several steps above the average human' abilities. The system is quite traditional in it's approach to magic - there's a set list of spells to choose from and PC's can cast a number of spells equal to twice their Magic score (which is in turn equal to their Soul stat). What is different in this game is the highly evocative descriptions for each spell. The author has pulled out all the stops in his text in this section and it's the first time I can ever remember actualy enjoying reading a spell list.

I grabbed this one as well, and threw it in with the rest. I haven't read through it, and I don't know much ab out it. Let me know what you think!
